AVArchives Services (AVAS) specializes in research of archival motion picture footage, sound and video recordings, and historical photographs from public domain sources such as the National Archives and Records Administration, Library of Congress, Department of Defense, and other federal agencies. AVAS was founded by Bill Murphy, retired from the National Archives, and his team combines decades of research experience in helping documentary producers incorporate the best public domain images and recorded sound into their productions. AVAS identifies pertinent materials, compiles catalog and caption information, and supplies mini-DV (NTSC) video cassettes for preview as well as CD-Rs of high resolution scans of photos. And, at no extra charge, AVAS coordinates video lab orders for telecine transfers or video conversions, including HD formats.
